“…ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine…”

“Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.”- Nick Randolph is the Assistant Pastor of New Testament Baptist Church in Smithville, West Virginia. He is also the captain of the West Virginia Team of Fill America. He actively preaches and promotes the Fill America movement around his state.

What does he mean by, “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable”?

Most Christians do not pass out Gospel tracts because they feel uncomfortable doing so. Somehow, they believe that their lack of obedience to the Great Commission is justifiable because of their uneasiness to smile at a stranger and say, “May I give you something that says that God loves you?”

Christian friends, may I admit something to you? Virtually every time I approach a stranger to give them a Gospel tract, I get uncomfortable. I get nervous. I have to pray and ask the Lord to give me boldness. I have to remind myself of what the Lord commanded me to do. I also have to remind myself that this person is on their way to either heaven or hell and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only message that that can save them. Christian love demands that I try to tell them about the Lord. The overwhelming majority of people accept the tract. Some reject. A very small minority are rude. Regardless, we have our orders.

Christian friends, pass out tracts and look for opportunities to open your mouth to speak to people about the most important thing in the world—their souls eternal destiny. Talk to your neighbors, your coworkers, strangers, loved ones and anyone that God brings into your path. Push through your fear. You can do it. The Lord specifically promises to stay with you and to empower you. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never get over my uncomfortableness of approaching strangers. I am learning to “get comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

Lord, help me.
